  • Approving your Research Leave of Absence
  1. Go to your pending approvals.
    1. Log into MySlice.
    2. Select the Human Resources and Payroll tile in the Employee Services section.
    3. Ensure you are in the “employee self-service” view. Select the approvals tile.
  2. Open the request you want to approve.
    1. Select “Research/Admin LOA” from the menu on the left side of the page.
    2. Select your online leave form.
  3. Review the details of your request.
    1. Select “view details.”
    2. Review the details of the request.
    3. Verify that you are listed at the bottom of the page as a pending approver.
    4. Review comments made by others, if desired.
    5. Do not approve the leave from this page. Return to the main approval page by selecting “pending approvals” in the top left corner of the window.
  4. If you do not have a contingent plan for alternate funding, and all details of your planned leave are accurate, select “approve” on this page.
    1. If the details of your planned leave are not accurate, select “pushback” and contact your dean’s office to update your plans.
  5. If you have a contingent plan for funding, please read the following carefully:
    1. If your planned leave is accurate, and you will not use the contingent funding option, enter the comment “leave as planned”, then select approve.
    2. If your planned leave is no longer accurate, but your contingent plan should be used instead, enter the comment, “contingent funding should be applied”, then approve.
    3. If both your planned leave and the contingent funding details are no longer accurate, select “pushback” and contact your dean’s office to update your plans. A new letter specifying new terms, if approved, will be provided.
