How to Sign Up for a Google Analytics Account & Enable Google Analytics on an Expressions Site

Part 1: Account Set Up

Step-by-step instructions to create a Google Analytics account

New members: if you are new to Google Analytics, you must first create an account. Go to and click Sign Up Now. You will be directed to a new screen where you can begin creating your account.

Google ID Required: Google requires a Google ID to create an account. You may either log-in with your Google ID or create a new one.

Create New Account: Once logged-in with your Google ID, click Sign-up. From there, you will be directed to a new page and instructed to enter website details.

General Information

1.) Create an account name.
2.) Select https:// if appropriate and enter your Expressions site's URL.
3.) Choose the correct time zone.

Data Sharing Settings

4.) Choose the optional Data Sharing setting you prefer. If you choose Do not share my Google Analytics Data, only you will be able to have access to the data collected by Google Analytics. If you choose Share my Google Analytics Data, you must choose from two options: With other Google products only or Anonymously with Google and others.

Create Account

5.) To finish the account creation process, you must complete the User Agreement. Select your country or territory. Next, read Google Analytics Terms of Service. If you agree to the terms of service, check the Terms and Conditions box. Lastly, click the Create Account button.


6.) Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.

Part 2: Install WordPress Plug-ins

Back to WordPress

1.) Return to your WordPress Expressions administrator panel. Under Plug-ins, click Add New.

2.) Search for Google Analytics for WordPress.

Install Now

3.) Locate Google Analytics for WordPress in your search results. Click Install Now.

Activate Plug-in

4.) Click OK to confirm installation.
5.) When installation is complete, click Activate Plug-in.

1.) Click Settings, then click Google Analytics.

2.) Click Click here to authenticate with Google. You may be asked to re-enter your Google ID.

3.) Click Grant Access to continue.

Update Google Analytics Settings

4.) To update, enter account and profile information created earlier. Next, click Update Google Analytics Settings to continue.

5.) Check Show Advanced Settings to configure more advanced options. See the following section for details on the advanced settings page.

Part 5: View Analytics

Access Analytics

1.) To view your analytics, go to, then click Access Analytics.

Find your site

2.) You will be directed to your account page. Click the site you want to track.

3.) A link will appear below the site chosen to track. Click this link. You will be directed to a new page.

View your analytics

4.) The panel on the new page is where you can view all your analytics.
