Familiar Faces

Maryann Barker is Class Scheduler and Manager for the School of Education. Questions about class permissions, classroom spaces, and syllabi uploads should be directed to her.

Giovanna Colosi is the Librarian for the School of Education. Her office is housed in Bird Library and she's an excellent source of information for new graduate students. Set up a meeting with Giovanna as soon as possible to learn about research strategies, library resources, and special collections!

Sheila DeRose is an Academic Advisor in the Office of Academic and Student Services who works with graduate students in the Cultural Foundations of Education Department, Higher Education Department, Counseling and Human Services Department, and the Instructional Design, Development, and Evaluation Department.

Beth Ferri is the Associate Dean for Research. She supports students and faculty in seeking and obtaining grant funding for research.


Jing Lei is the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. She oversees curriculum changes for the school and assists graduate students in progressing through their program courses. She often distributes information about scholarships, fellowships, and job opportunities, so watch your email carefully!

Paula Maxwell is the Director of Technology Services for the School of Education. Paula oversees the technology support team which consists of Shannon Thibault and Sean Peterson.

Amie Redmond is the Senior Assistant Dean for Academic and Student Services. She oversees a team of support specialists, including academic advisers. Amie has a network of student support resources she can use to assist you and your undergraduate students.

Mike Torak is the Associate Dean for Administration in the School of Education. He oversees the building, financial, and logistical management of the School of Education.

Martin Walls is the Director of Marketing and Communications for the School of Education. Martin and Allison DeVoe work together to highlight the work of the School of Education and its faculty and students through the SOE website, social media, Education Exchange magazine, media relations, and more.
