On this page we will guide you through setting AV modes within Blackboard Collaborate Ultra.
Streaming from a classroom in Hinds Hall, you will have three (3) options for setting up your recording on the computer.
(1) Lecture - Both audio input (microphone) / audio output (speaker) will use the headset
(2) Discussion - Audio input (microphone) will use the classroom mic / audio out (speaker) will use the classroom speakers
(3) Hybrid - Audio input → (headset) | Audio output → (classroom speakers)
Collaborate Ultra Device Settings
When you first join a Collaborate session you will be prompted to set up your audio and video.
By default, your audio and video feeds are hidden and muted after you complete the setup. Select the microphone and camera icons to begin full meeting participation. Alternatively, with your keyboard, press Alt + M to turn your microphone on and off. Press Alt + C to turn your camera on and off.
Changing Audio-In (Microphone) Settings
1) If you need to change devices within BB Collaborate you can set up audio and video at any time in My Settings.
To access your My Settings area, open the Collaborate Panel on the lower right side of the screen.
2) Click the My Settings button at the bottom of the page.
3) This will open your My Settings. Click Select Set Up your Camera and Microphone to set up your audio and video.
4) These settings allow you to change the devices (that are active on the computer) for Audio Input only (Microphone)
Note: Audio Out/Speakers will need to be changed on Windows for your Blackboard Collaborate Ultra session!!
Note2: If you do not see your desired device as an option this means the computer is not recognizing it. Please check its connection/power
Changing Audio-Out (Speaker) Settings
Since collaborate ultra does not allow you to change the active speaker within a meeting you will need to change the settings from Windows. Don't worry about closing your Collaborate meeting as the changes will take effect even with an active session.
1) Navigate to the Windows Desktop and look to the bottom right corner of your taskbar for the volume icon. Click it to bring up your active device.
2) Select the caret '^' on the right to bring up other playback (speaker) device options
3) The screenshot above shows what you want to see when changing audio-out (speakers) - specific choices for AV modes will be covered below.
