Intended for students in their first semester at Syracuse University who are enrolled in the iSchool.

Learning Objectives

After taking this course, students will be able to:

  1. Develop strategies for "How to succeed at the iSchool", including time management, self-directed learning strategies, effective use of online learning tools, teamwork, and effective techniques for communicating your achievements.
  2. Create an academic plan for the IM&T program that will assure a successful iSchool@SU experience, including mechanisms to track progress and determine appropriate co-curricular interests.
  3. Cultivate an understanding of emerging professions the Information and Management Technology field, create professional branding tools including a resume and LinkedIn profile, and begin to build your professional network.
  4. Document and reflect on their personal and academic transition to Syracuse via a visual portfolio that captures use of key University and iSchool resources.
