Wireless Access

About: AirOrangeX (AOX), Syracuse University's high-speed wireless network provides an encrypted secure connection (802.1x) to the SU network.  The wireless network is now available in all University residential facilities, South Campus apartments, and in many University buildings located both on and off campus.  All residential facilities have 100% wireless coverage.  See our wireless locations and hotspots.  AirOrangeGuest wireless access is also available for SU guests on a temporary basis.

SURA: Syracuse University Remote Access

About:  SURA is a tool that automatically configures a Windows personal computer to securely connect to University resources via VPN. SURA can be used instead of the older Windows VPN configuration tool

Remote Labs

About:  Remote lab is a pool of 24 Virtual Machines run on 6 different servers which has a limited amount of Windows software available which are required for classes. This project is currently in BETA and its success is contingent on its use and your feedback.

 Printing

Both Black&White and Color printers can be found in labs 010 and 013 on the bottom floor of Hinds Hall.

Please be aware that you are charged for all print jobs from your SU printing quota (the price per page is located on the printer).  If you need to increase your printing quota, you can do so by logging in to https://printing.syr.edu/ with your NetID and password.

There is also a color scanner available in the iLab- Hinds Hall 010.

Black and White scanners can be found on the big copiers in 114, 245, and 343.

About: The Blackboard Learning and Community System is a course and organization management system that makes the creation, organization, and management of course content on the web relatively simple.  Blackboard can be accessed through a web browser from any computer with Internet access. Faculty and students will have access to Blackboard courses on a nearly continuous basis. Blackboard @ SU is intended for supplemental use in supporting on-campus, face-to-face classes listed in the Time Schedule of Classes as well as online courses.

About: Panopto CourseCast is a Syracuse University supported presentation capture tool which records video-based instructional content, streams it over the Internet, and makes it available for students to view at any time. Panopto CourseCast lets instructors to capture, edit, stream, archive, and share video and PowerPoint recordings that preserve critical knowledge.

Adobe Connect Pro

About: Adobe Connect Pro is Syracuse University supported web conferencing application. Users only need a Flash-enabled web browser and an Internet connection to participate in synchronous online sessions. Adobe Connect Pro allows the flexibility to deliver rich content, including streaming audio, video, and desktop and application sharing. There is also a recording feature that allows later review and archiving of Adobe Connect Pro meetings.

Ensemble Video

About: Ensemble Video is a video content management, organization and viewing tool supported by Syracuse University and the iSchool. Unlike YouTube and Vimeo, content is stored and streamed from inside Syracuse University and is private to selected users. Ensemble's flexible publishing model allows you to take your video library and distribute it to multiple websites. Faculty can use Ensemble Video to store video collections for publishing to websites, blogs, and course management systems like Blackboard.

About: Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 is a Syracuse University and iSchool supported web-based collaboration and content management tool. More specifically, it allows users to share and collaborate on documents on the web with shared access. It has been created to encourage and enhance the collaborative efforts of Syracuse University faculty, staff, and students.
