The assignee of an issue is the person responsible for that issue.  The assignee may not do all the work on the issue themselves, but they are responsible for seeing that the work is completed.  Only individuals can be assignees in Orange Tracker.  You cannot assign an issue to a group. 

If an issue has not been assigned to a consultant yet, the assignee will display as "unassigned."

Project consultants often track what tickets they have that stll need work by using the "My Open Issues" filter on the issue navigator screen.  This filter will find all unresolved issues assigned to the logged in user.  The issues list available from the Project page will also split out issues by assignee.

To assign issue to yourself

  1. Navigate to the Issue.
  2. Click on the Assign to Me link next to the "Assignee" field (found in the People section in the right-hand column of the screen).

OR

  1. Navigate to the issue.
  2. Select the "Assign" button from the workflow menu
  3. Select the "Assign to me" link on the "Assign" screen that appears.
  4. Select the "Assign" button.

To assign issue to others

  1. Navigate to the Issue.
  2. Hover over the "Assignee" field until the pencil icon appears and then select the pencil icon.
  3. Select the appropriate consultant from the drop-down list.  Only consultants within the project can be assigned to the issue.
  4. Select the check mark to save the changes.

OR

  1. Navigate to the issue.
  2. Select the "Assign" button from the workflow menu.
  3. Select the appropriate consultant from the drop-down list.  Only consultants within the project can be assigned to the issue.  Optionally, you can add a comment to the issue.
  4. Click the Assign button to save the change.
