Add a Different Watcher to an Issue

You must have appropriate permissions in the project to add other users as watchers to an issue. Also, the user you wish to add as a watcher to the issue must also have permissions to view the issue.  Since project users usually only have permissions to view their own issues (issues for which they are the reporter), the user you wish to be a watcher on an issue must usually have be added to the observers role to see issues for which they are not the reporter.

IMPORTANT:  If you add a user to the observers role, they will be able to see all issues in the project, not just any issues on which they are a watcher.  If you don't want the user to see all issues in a project, then they cannot be a watcher on issues in that project for which they are not the reporter .

  1. Login into Orange Tracker and navigate to the issue
  2. Click on the number in the circle found in "Watchers" field
  3. You will now see a list of current watchers.
  4. In the box labeled "Add Watcher," enter person's username (the netID if they are an SU affiliated user or the email address if they are not affiliated with SU).  This will bring up a list of matching users.  You can also type their full name in this box to bring up a list of matching users.
  5. Select the user that you want to watch the page from the list.
  6. Click on the "Add button.  (if the user doesn't have permissions to view the issue, you will get an error stating that the user cannot be added to the watch list).

Alternatively, you can select the "More" button on the issue and then select "Watchers" to add watchers to the issue. Type the username or person's name in the "Watchers" box and select the appropriate user from the list of matching users that appears.

Remove a Different Watcher from an Issue

  1. Login into Orange Tracker and navigate to the issue
  2. Click on the number in the circle found in "Watchers" field
  3. You will now see a list of current watchers.
  4. Hover your cursor on the watcher you wish to remove.
  5. Select the trash can icon to remove the watcher.

Alternatively, you can select the "More" button on the issue and then select "Watchers."   The list of current watchers is displayed in the right column.  Put a check mark in the box for each watcher you wish to remove and then select the "Remove" button.  If you put a check mark in the box by "Current watchers," all the watchers will be selected and then removed if you select the "Remove" button.
