It's a good idea to occasionally update your Whitman Remote Desktop to stay up-to-date with changes and updated features.

You can do this whether you have a Mac or a Windows computer. Please read below for instructions.

Refreshing your Whitman Remote Desktop on Windows

  1. In the Cortana search window next to your Start Menu button, type 'remoteapp' and wait for the search to complete. Then, click "RemoteApp and Desktop Connections":



  2. In the RemoteApp and Desktop Connections dialog, you will see a list of any desktop and remoteapp connections you've defined. Under the listing for "Whitman Remote Desktop", click "View Details" as shown below:



  3. In the connection properties window you will see three sections: Properties, Update, and Most Recent Update Results. Under update, click "Update Now" as shown:



  4. Once the update is complete, click finish, and close the RemoteApp and Desktop Connections panel.



  5. Check the start menu under "Whitman Remote Desktop (RADC)".  If it is still not listed please send an email to wsmhelp@syr.edu.

Microsoft Remote Desktop v8

Microsoft Remote Desktop v8 for Mac is characterized by its square, reddish-orange icon. To refresh the feed:

  1. Open Microsoft Remote Desktop 
  2. Click on "Remote Resources"



  3. The dialog to enter the Remote Resources URL and your credentials will pop up. Click "Refresh" without changing anything.



  4. You're done.

Microsoft Remote Desktop v10

Microsoft Remote Desktop v10 for Mac is characterized by its circular reddish-orange icon. To refresh the feed:

  1. Open Microsoft Remote Desktop
  2. Click "Apps" in the center of the toolbar at the top of the window:
  3. Next to the name of the connection are three dots - click them


  4. Click "Refresh"



  5. You're done.
