Below you will find a list of information technology resources provided throughout campus and how long users will retain access following graduation, retirement, resignation, or separation from the University. 

Please note that many of the resources below require login with an active NetID and password. Users can manage their credentials on the NetID self-service page.

Active Directory

12 months after graduation - access to H:\ drive is limited to on-campus access only for alumni

Department may remove access anytime after the effective date of retirement or resignation. If no action is taken, staff that resign or retire lose access after 30 days and faculty that resign lose access after one (1) year. Faculty-retirees retain access.
Adobe Creative Cloud

Access to the Adobe Creative Cloud suite and its licensing ends after graduation or leaving the University. Cloud based assets and on-campus access to Adobe Spark for Higher Education, will expire after 12 months.

Department may remove access anytime after the effective date of retirement or resignation. If no action is taken, staff that resign or retire lose access after 30 days and faculty that resign or retire lose access after one (1) year. Please note: that not all staff and faculty receive a Creative Cloud license, retention only applies if the user had access as an active employee.

AirOrangeX (wireless)

12 months after graduation

Department may remove access anytime after the effective date of retirement or resignation. If no action is taken, staff that resign or retire lose access after 30 days and faculty that resign lose access after one (1) year. Faculty-retirees retain access.
Blackboard

Access to Blackboard remains as long as the NetID password is maintained (i.e. changed yearly per password change requirement).

Access to courses is disabled 30 days after the end of a semester unless the instructor overrides the course end date.

Email

SUMail remains available to alumni under the current agreement with Microsoft and is contingent on the maintenance of annual NetID password changes.

Microsoft reserves the right to display advertisements to alumni.

Former faculty and staff who are also alumni should reference the former students SUMail information to the left.

Non-alumni former faculty and staff should contact their departmental IT support staff to inquire when access may be impacted. Faculty-retirees retain access. 

EnsembleStudent accounts are not provisioned based on student status.Department may remove access anytime after the effective date of retirement or resignation. If no action is taken, staff that resign or retire lose access after 30 days and faculty that resign lose access after one (1) year. Faculty-retirees retain access.
Expressions

Expressions is not available for student use.

Students who had Expressions sites prior to August 1, 2021 can access an archived copy of their site information by logging into Expressions thru July 31, 2022.

Existing netid.expressions.syr.edu sites remain available under the current Expressions offering -- sites are not deprovisioned based on current status.

Google Workspace12 months after graduation.Department may remove access anytime after the effective date of retirement or resignation. If no action is taken, staff that resign or retire lose access after 30 days and faculty that resign lose access after one (1) year. Faculty-retirees retain access.
Local G: drive (file shares)12 months after graduation from on-campus.Department may remove access anytime after the effective date of retirement or resignation. If no action is taken, staff that resign or retire lose access after 30 days and faculty that resign lose access after one (1) year. Faculty-retirees retain access.
Local H: drive (file shares)12 months after graduation from on-campus.Department may remove access anytime after the effective date of retirement or resignation. If no action is taken, staff that resign or retire lose access after 30 days and faculty that resign lose access after one (1) year. Faculty retirees retain access while on-campus, and remotely with a University laptop if authorized by the department.
KalturaAccess becomes read-only once the user is no longer in active student affiliation. This is about two (2) months after the last academic term.

Lab logins

ITS Public Computer Labs: 12 months after graduation. Locations and hours.

Departmental Labs: up to 12 months after graduation and varies by department. Contact organizational unit staff for details.

Library

LinkedIn Learning

(Formerly Lynda.com)

No access once the the user is no longer in active student affiliation. This is about two (2) months after the last academic term.

MySlice

Access removed two (2) years after last registered term.

About one (1) year after effective date of resignation or retirement.
Office 365 resources (OneDrive, Teams, Office download)

12 months after you graduate or leave the university, the subscription will expire and you will no longer be able access data stored services such as OneNote, OneDrive, Teams or SharePoint; and you will no longer be able to create/edit documents using an Office 365 local installation.

Handshake 

Access to Handshake remains available as long as the NetID password is maintained (i.e. changed yearly per password change requirement).

Alumni are not imported into the system, so if they have not yet created an account they will need to do so.

QualtricsAccess to Qualtrics ends after graduation or leaving the University.No access
ZoomAlumni will maintain their Syracuse University Zoom account, however, the account will be moved to a 'Basic' level Zoom account once the student obtains Alumni status and is no longer an active student. The Zoom Basic account will no longer have the benefits of a Zoom Edu Pro license.Department may remove access anytime after the effective date of retirement or resignation. If no action is taken, staff that resign or retire lose access after 30 days and faculty that resign lose access after one (1) year. Faculty-retirees retain access.

Faculty retirees retain access to departmental shared drives while on campus, and remotely with a University laptop if authorized by the department.

  1. I wonder if printing should be included on this page.  Since the advent of PaperCut we have had a couple Alumni asking what happened to my printing ?
