Now that you have logged into the HTML5 Vsphere Client, the below instructions will help you to find and use your assigned Virtual Machine.
Interacting with your Virtual Machine (VM)
1. Powering On the VM
There are two (2) options for powering on the VM:
Option 1: Right-select the virtual machine > select Power > select Power On
Option 2: Select the virtual machine > select the green play button at the top
2. Powering Off the VM
There are two (2) options for powering off the VM:
Option 1: Inside of the virtual machine, use the "shut down" function of the operating system
(Note: This may be inside a GUI or a terminal command, depending on the operating system)- Option 2: Select the virtual machine > select the red square button at the top
3. Accessing the Virtual Console (3 options)
- Option 1 - Right-select the virtual machine > select Open Remote Console (A new tab will open)
- Option 2 - Click the Computer Icon with diagonal green arrow
- Option 3 - Launch Web Console (under VM's Summary Tab)

vSphere Tabs
Summary
- This tab, when in a virtual machine, gives you information about the virtual machine that is selected
Monitor
- This tab, when in a virtual machine, gives you a graph of the activity in the virtual machine
- This tab tells you what actions have been preformed in a folder or a virtual machine recently
- This tab gives warnings and alerts for virtual machines or other objects when a trigger has tripped
Permissions
- This tab gives you information on what users can see a(n) object
Datastores
- This tab offers a view of the storage resources assigned to this virtual machine
- Networks
- This tab offers a view of the networks which the VM is operating on
